Evelyn Berkey never expected to reach 100 years old. When she did, her milestone birthday came amid a global pandemic.

“Life is fleeting, but it’s been good to me for 100 years.”

Evelyn Berkey remembers how funny cars looked when they came out. She witnessed the Great Depression, and still cleans her plate because of it. She cared for her toddler alone while her husband served in WWII. At 57, she learned to ski, and did not stop for 13 years.

On April 21, 2020, she celebrated her 100th birthday amid the COVID-19 global pandemic, with a socially-distanced caravan of loved ones. Read more about her storied life here.
